The Gärdslösa Bridal Crown

One of the reasons that I think the Cameo Tiara has become a mainstay of Swedish royal brides is its resemblance in shape to a traditional Swedish bridal crown. When King Carl XVI Gustaf's eldest sister, Princess Margaretha, married John Ambler in 1964, she eschewed a tiara in favor of one of these traditional headpieces.
